Education, Fellowship, & Small Groups

EDCC provides educational opportunities on Sunday mornings and throughout the week that give space to ask questions, connect with others, and grow deeper in understanding of your faith. Check out some opportunities below.

Just for Children

Newborn Nursery

The Newborn Nursery is located in the middle of the Children's wing, and is complete with several cribs and age appropriate toys for babies under one years old.  Maria Chavez is the nursery attendant.

The Toddlers class is for children 1-2 years old.  The toddlers enjoy music, finger painting, and crafts each week in a classroom stocked with Christian based toys, puzzles, and games.  Amanda Aguilar and Mirtha Marchan are the teachers.

Preschool - 4th Grade
East Dallas Christian Church offers Sunday School classes for children of all ages from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.  The classes are divided by age, with the Preschool class for 3-4 year olds, the pre-K and Kindergarten class for 5 year olds, and a combined class for 1st – 4th grade  children.  All of these classes teach Bible stories from either the Gospel Light or Cokesbury curriculum along with crafts appropriate to the ages of the children as well as some playtime after the lesson.

Also available to these children is Children's Church, which is held in the Children's Wing right after the Children's sermon in the Sanctuary service. Old and New Testament Bible stories and parables come to life through the use of the Jerome Barryman Godly Play curriculum.  The children enjoy a light snack, participate in creative arts and crafts projects, and have fun singing with the Children's Choir.  Parents pick up their children in Children's Church at the end of the Sanctuary service.

CYF and Chi Rho
CYF (9th – 12th grade) and Chi Rho (6th – 8th grade) classes meet for Sunday School every Sunday morning in the youth rooms upstairs.  Beginning at 9:30 am, our teachers lead us in discussions of faith and biblical issues. Currently our two classes are meeting together using the Connect curriculum from Sparkhouse to gain an board understanding of the Bible Stories.

CrossTalk Class

In the Crosstalk class, you can find beliefs and perspectives ranging from liberal to conservative (and everything in between) and from people of all ages, both singles and married. With such a diverse group, you can naturally expect lively discussions on all manner of topics. What the class studies depends on the interests of the group and what is going on in the world. We are confident you will find a friendly atmosphere and a group

that supports one another as we all seek to grow in our Christian faith. We meet at 9:30 AM in the 2nd floor of the Minyard building.

The NOW Class

The NOW (New Order of Witnesses) class began in 1969 as a young married couples class.  Now in its 40th year, it is a mixture of couples and singles, ranging in age from 40's to 60's. The member-taught class utilizes a variety of lessons, including videotaped series as well as studies of contemporary religious writings, the Bible, and Biblical history.

The NOW class has always served the community as well, working on many various outreach projects including Habitat for Humanity and a project dedicated to improving education and living conditions in African villages. We meet at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings in the 2nd floor of the Education wing. Look for the room with the comfy chairs.

Sanders Fellowship Class

Every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, members of the Sanders Fellowship class renew their knowledge of the Scriptures, reinforce old friendships, and welcome new friends.

Wednesday Bible Study

Every Wednesday morning explore God’s word with Rev. Deborah and Rev. Colin at 10:00 am in the Disciples Room. We have deviated into interesting books, such as an exploration of our own systems of theology and the lost books of the Bible. All are welcome to this mixed age group for conversation and fellowship.
