Adult Classes:

Dynamics Class:
Young Adults Perhaps you would enjoy the Dynamics class. The class is structured to provide various formats to stimulate thought and discussion. Our teacher brings well thought out lessons from such resources as the Bible, CBP formal lesson Series, Dallas Morning News and Parade Magazine.

The Dynamics Sunday school class was stared approximately 20 years ago to minister to young married couples. The class has evolved over the years and the membership now includes singles and married's in their 30's and 40's.

In addition to Sunday morning fellowship, the class also regularly schedules fellowship opportunities and parties throughout the year. A family weekend retreat is held each year in the fall at the Disciples of Christ Camp and lake in Athens, Texas.

Genesis Class: Young Adult Discussion Group
The Genesis Sunday School class tries to take a "new" look at our world through our discussions of all things pertinent (and occasionally impertinent.) If you like to talk, if you like to give your opinion (and perhaps occasionally digress in the process), and if you want to know what others think, then you owe it to yourself to visit the Genesis class.

We want to know how faith affects our lives and the lives of those around us. We cover topics from the actions of various organizations shaping our faith future to studies of books of the Bible. The class members determine the topics we need to know more about. It's never dull.

It's like a religious "show and tell" for adults! (Not that you ever did tell. Or show. At least, not without the teacher present. I didn't. And nobody that I know did, except for Danny's friend with the ... But, I digress.) Anyway, you get the picture.

Our group tends to be adults with children in school, but we do attract all ages that enjoy the art of irrelevant (and occasionally serious) debate in an effort to expand our minds and our faith.

NOW Class: Baby Boomers Discussion Group

Fellowship Class: Older Adults
Try the Fellowship Class - a warm, friendly, caring and loving group of people. We say that if you come three times, you are a member of the class. The attendance is typically 50 to 65 people.

The Fellowship Class was formed in the 70's from two couples classes, the Mr. and Mrs. Class and the Two by Two Class. (Both classes were lecture type, as they are today). Jack and Mary Dale formed the Mr. & Mrs. Class in the early 1950's.

After Jack's death, Paul Stowe began teaching in the 60's. When Paul died in 1976, Paul Meadows became our teacher. Following the merger of the two classes, the class added more teachers. Today, five dedicated Christian teachers rotate the teaching ministry.

Scripture and a prayer precede the lesson. But before that, we sing several hymns [the old time variety]. Our Sunshine Reporter then identifies those with birthdays and anniversaries. Any member with health or other problems is contacted weekly, if possible. The class prays for and otherwise ministers to all class members.

We love to eat, sing and have fun together so the class has several social events each year. These include potluck supper/business meetings, game nights, Palm Sunday breakfast, Christmas banquet, Valentine party and special gospel sing-a-longs.

Sanders Class: Older Adults
For a life changing experience, why not invest a few months of Sundays visiting with the mature adults in the Sanders Class of EDCC. Better yet, you might want to volunteer to lead a song or prayer, help plan a party, or work on another class committee. In time not a single person is left out of this "vast conspiracy" to become totally involved. Discover the mystery of membership in our Marble Family -- each one in his or her own unique way a committed, caring Christian.

The Sanders Class will soon celebrate its 80th year of continuous activity as an adult Sunday School Class of the East Dallas Christian Church. This Class is made up of mature men and women in the age group of 60 and above. We are fortunate enough to have several excellent teachers who rotate the weekly teaching task. Class attendance each week is 60 to 70 People.

Formed by Horace and Helen Sanders shortly before the outbreak of World War II, we believe over the decades, our class has tested and refined the art of Christian caring, compassion and camaraderie to near perfection in the crucible of time and practice.

That same heartfelt outpouring of Christian fellowship is always extended to all mature men and women who might be seeking a new church home. Our door is always open to visitors and inside you will find a warm and caring new church family.
